The Superbusy Mummy Blogger is often approached by websites. When they aren’t asking her to write free content they get busy with trying to get her to join their competition.
In my early days of blogging I’m ashamed to say I fell for it. If you want to feel really dirty, try asking your friends and readers to vote for you on a daily basis.
Icky.
It took me way too long to work out that all I was doing was ramping up some random website’s statistics. And for what?
A badge.
A badge to put on my blog so that I could continue to give free advertising.
Maybe it’s clever marketing, or maybe it’s just another way of scamming hard working Bloggers into doing something for nothing?

Why do companies expect people to do stuff for free?
THEY don’t do stuff for free.
When I worked in advertising it was called batering – the newspaper might receive competition prizes to the value of a sponsorship and run a few ads for a reduced rate; but the prizes = the sponsorship so it wasn’t free.
My husbands company put in a huge tender this week – the prospective client asked for so many discounts and huge chunks of work for free – of course the answer was a polite no.
Maybe the old saying ‘no harm in asking so long as it’s polite’ comes into play?
Too many companies expect too much for free, especially online with nothing in return.

I too have belittled myself and begged for votes and wanted to dig a hole when people asked if I won (they don’t read other blogs and think mine is the only one out there). At least the end results were in alphabetical order so some people thought I came 5th!
So agree – I run away from anything that involves touting for votes. But there must be plenty of people who ‘like’ it, as the begs for my vote goes on and on and on …

Oh God yes, yes, yes, YES!!! Got to share. I get this every frickin day, and it’s driving me nuts. And my kids certainly can’t get the frickin badge, nor will it pay the mortgage or the kids’ Uni fees! Grr!

I stopped going in competitions after the very first one I entered. I should be able to reduce my meds any day now…..

so because this last month ive been approached already twice by two portals targeting italian that would like to become expats, one proposed me an interview of just 15 questions and the other to write for them an article full of tips of how to move abroad live abroad breed abroad that must be original and not based on previous material i published on my blog and they both offered me the wonderful advantage of mentioning the link to my blog, it means I start to be considered a quite successful blogger?
