Good Luck New Zulland.

Thus week I huv coloured the stars on our flug red. I um lustening to Crowded House, Splet Enz and Dave Dobbyn. The kuds are watching Lord of the Rungs und Kung Kong, cuz we all love Peter Juckson.

I saw my frunds from New Zulland thus morning. They were all viry huppy. I said “How about those Wallabies, dudn’t they play like Shut. All Blacks had them from begunning to ind. I’m so proud of New Zulland”.

“I thought you were from Australia Bro?” they said

“I um, but we Aussies claim iverytheng good from New Zulland. Rumember the Funs? Tum and Niell? They’re really bug in Australia?”

My frunds from New Zulland hadn’t seen thus clep, so I said I’d post it for thum.

I asked the Little Travelers who they’d barrack for this weekend in Rugby World Cup. The vote was unanimous “The Kiwis! We have to barrack for the Kiwi’s, all of our friends are Kiwis and it’s so close to Australia – we’re neighbours!”

At every International School the Little Travellers have been a part of, the Kiwis and the Aussies are always lumped together. Our flags look very similar, our accents differ only slightly and we tend to have a very similar view on the world. We join clubs together, and on ANZAC day each year we remember the history and the depth of our relationship. In Qatar each year over six hundred Kiwis and Australians get together for the ANZA ball and the party is HUGE.

New Zealand has had a really crap year. I have listened to many stories about lost houses, struggling relatives and devastation caused by natural disasters.

It’s about time the Kiwis had something big to celebrate.

The French, I don’t think they’ve got a chence.

  3. Oh you haven’t  had a stroke, you’re writing in New Zealand phonetic English, i get it (’tis late).  Yes, good for them, we just could not keep up.  My husband has some soldiers who have done exchanges with the NZ Army & they insist they are the true ANZACs.  Love Posie

This is great Kirsty. I am a Welsh girl living in Australia and I will be shouting for All Blacks this weekend too.  Shame it isn’t the Welsh in the final with them though….but that’s sport.

  11. Hahahahahaha Kirsty!!! Being one of those ‘frunds from NZ thus morning” I initially thought you had lost spell check ability but apparently not as I read on……

Phuluppas comments are hilarious – and yes many a time at home we have referred to the ‘wunkas ova the dutch.’ We do however band together alot more when we are in the minority living away in a far off country.

While sweating it out in the heat this morning standing outside the school for good while talking to a new Aussie mum she used the word ‘ferrel’ when talking about some naughty kids. Loved the word – haven’t heard it in years and am going to claim it for a while.

    p.s.  GO THA BLUCKS!!!!!

  12. Did you know, the last time the All Blacks won a World Cup? It was against France. In the inaugural Rugby World Cup in 1987…(I believe France got absolutely smashed…)

It bodes well…very well. Especially on home turf. How proud!
Why am I so not surprised that you are a rugby fan?

    xx

  13. Oh, so THAT”S what’s going on! Learn something new every day…wish I’d read this before shopping on Monday.  Had a lovely conversation with a sweet Kiwi lady who was telling me all about the increase in the amount of ‘dye-ree’ in NZ after I mentioned a sheep book my mum had brought the boys after returning from a trip there.  I thought at first she was talking about a sort of sheep, and then decided she must be talking about another sort of NZ animal.  Took me a bit to figure out that she was talking about dairy cows…sigh.

  14. Been away on self indulgent shopping and party tour – so way behind in blog reading but had to say – too too funny. (just back from loo where I had to run as was laughing so much)
